I looked in /lib/modules and saw a 2.6.11/ folder I hadn't noticed before. In it was extras/ivtv.ko and the rest. I copied them over to the proper /lib/mod

I'm having a strange thing happen.
I originally installed ivtv through ATRPMS.
Toady, I removed all of those rpm's and compiled ivtv through source.
/var/log/messages still has a line that reads "kernel: ivtv:
version 0.2.0 (rc3j) loading" even though I compiled ivtv-0.3.7f.
Did I miss so

Thanks for your suggestion of finding and reading the serial-console.txt.
It made me realize that I needed to recompile the Knoppmyth kernel with
serial console support. Knoppmyth had this support as a loadable module.
Now the serial console works.
