I am trying to make Tomcat 4.1 use JDBCRealm to authenticate users to the 'protected'
apps. I am hoping to ultimately be able to put a web-based email link to James (using
IMP) on the protected page and avoid making the users log in multiple times.
I've hit a little problem. James is storing t

4) I would avoid "as the pest" modifying either James or Tomcat.
It's been a long message, but I hope it helps you.

Noel,
I checked your link, below from the previous post, and was thinking
about it as I was reading Vincenzo's comments. I had almost convinced
myself that customizing DigestUtil, or James' authentication class that
utilizes it, was the answer. However, Vincenzo cautioned me about

I like that idea.

I have a fully configured James server running, and I have set up sendmail on the same
server to forward all system notices to 'root' through james (to a 'root' email
account in James). It seems to be working fine. But, I have noticed that three days
in a row now, James has mysteriously shut d

Sorry. I was impetuous. Hoping someone had already seen this and knew
exactly what might cause it. System Info:

I tried the latest 1.4 JVM from SUN. It didn't help. Still crashed

I'm not sure what the exact procedure is. I haven't personally had trouble
with this. But, some of my customers and colleagues have had the same
problem you describe. In their case, it was caused by the dynamic IP
problem. If your mail server has been tagged as an open relay, then I think

Your message is very similar to the one I posted earlier in the week. I
think that some of mail providers (such as hotmail, etc) have begun to
reject mail from mail servers that are running on dynamic IP's. I have
searched the database at mail-abuse.org, and my IP doesn't seem to be
