Why not just write a Quark Storage component based upon lucene, and then you
get XPath/Query compliance?
and leave the custom (and simple) XML based persistence mechanism for lucene
queries as proprietary.

Paul - I keep forgetting about the goodies hidden in the Surround
parser. I'll take another look at them soon.
