I just upgraded to jdk 1.2pre_v2 (glibc 2.1) from 1.1.7_v3.
I have RH 6.0. What worked before under 1.1.7 v3 does not work any
more.

Sounds like a problem with class loaders. But everything is in one big
jar file. Hmmm.

This may or may not be the cuase of your problem but it sure sounds like it.
The error message "class not found" on jdk116 should really say:
class not found...error in class initializition?
It seems for security purposes, 1.1.6 will report class not found and abort
if there are any
