As far as I remember I just grabbed it from Sun, unpacked it and it
worked out of the box for me (JDK 1.1.7 and RedHat 5.1). So I don't
think you will need any advice on it, just try it 8^).

Which JMF you are asking about?
Do you mean JMF1.0. 1.1 or 2.0?

Anyway, does anyone have any tips or advice on getting Java Media Framework
(All-platforms) and JDK 1.1.7 to work on Slackware Linux, or should I
move straight onto 1.2.2?
