I thought the Lucene and Solr communities would find this interesting: My collaborators and I have used LuSql, Lucene and Semantic Vectors to visualize a large scale semantic journal space (kind of like 'Maps of Science') of a large scale (5.7 million articles) journal article collection using only the full-text (no metadata).
