about any signed installer hosted by java.sun. What it the status of this?

I've noticed that they claim Sun will serve up a signed version of Java3D
for runtime with the release of version 1.2.1. That should make writing
applets in Java3D doable.
They also mention that this will be in September of '00.
Does anyone know the status of this pending release?
