hi all,
i would like to make a proposal for a new behavior class or wakeup
conditions. Actually behaviors only listen to AWTEvents. It would be usefull
to have conditions handling user defined events. If you try to handle input
data from a port, the only way is polling data from a sensor. A behav
I have heard of Java3D only for several weeks and I have several questions:
- How can I get the mouse curzor coordinates ?
- I want to pick up and move objects, but in the picking examples the picked
object moves more or less, also not together with the curzor. Why ?
- I coudn't find methods to
Kurien, that's the very point of Java3D (and possibly of any other
true 3D application)! The performance highly (if not thouroughly) depends on the
complicity of the scene. Moreover, performance would be different on
different video cards with different amount of onboard RAM. For

no. Free for commercial use - vrml loader (on vrml site), obj (Wave
front) and Lightwave (lwo) format. Free for non commercial use - a
whole bunch of others, among which 3DMAX loaders.

Hey!
I need to develop an application using a VRML interface while being written
in java.
I don't know much about VRML but I do have the budget to hire. Is there
anyone out there who is willing to do some java3D development?
Milo :o)
I'm relatively new to Java3D but I have figured out one thing: my Matrox
Mystique 2Mb video card is just not cutting it anymore for decent graphics
performance. Can anyone recommended a decent, under $500 PCI-bus graphics
card that works well with Java3D/OpenGL? Also, I need a card that supports

I've been impressed with the 3DLabs VX1 for about $200 all told.
I'll be more impressed when they get their drivers working better
with Java3D (probably very soon).

Hi all!
What is currently the best and easiest way to load jpeg files from the net
or disk (or both)?

The easiest way to load an image from file or URL is to
use a TextureLoader object. The TextureLoader class is
intended to make it easy to load images for use as
textures, but the images loaded by a TextureLoader
object could be used for other purposes.

Hi!
I would like to know how CANVAS3D works when displaying a scene.
When making my program, all system recurses really decrease! And when I
minimize the JAVA3D program, the recurses are low too!
I don't know if CANVAS3D is allways rendering the scene (and so that, using
CPU).
If the answer is YES
I posted this message earlier today and a good recommendation - the Oxygen
VX1 from 3dlabs. Unfortunately, this card is an AGP card and my machine,
being a Pentium Pro, doesn't have an AGP port. Any other recommendations
that use the PCI bus (the PCI version of the VX1 won't be out until next

what chipset is 3DLabs VX1? might be dated.
its likely that you would be better of using a more recent part.
like an nVidia card. geForce is available at under $500, so is the 1
generation back TNT2. TNT2 is likely to be heavily discounted now that its a
rev back and may be very close in price t
