Title: java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError
Excellent! That's done the trick. Thanks
Matthew.
Now I
need to find out if there is any way of using j3d with the Microsoft JVM
(some hope) since we're using J/Direct calls elsewhere and are therefore
currently dependent on this VM!

If you followed the discussions about the MouseRotators you would have seen
that I certainly am in the mood of sharing code. But only if I do have code to

Hello!
Thanks for your help Andreas, Glenn & Doug!
The reason for my problem when the order in picking was reversed
was that the tolerance was not 0.0f.
When I put the tolerance to be 0, all my picking problems
dissapear. Now in any object overlaping case, the closest object is
always picked.

Hello Java 3D users !
i've noticed (a) Bug(s) in class ModelClip (same behavior when using
java3d 1.2 running on WIN NT and Linux).
I have several objcts in my scene which can be made visible/invisible by
detaching or adding the appropriate Branchgroup to the scenegraph. This
worked fine.
In the
Hello!
I am going to buy a laptop in order to run my java3D application. The
application is pretty demanding on a normal PC and is absolutely dependant
on hardware accelleration.
My understanding is that a Dell Inspiron with the ATI 128 Rage Mobility with
16M vram on it is a good choice.
Now I
Hi,
Can anyone tell me if their is a com.sun.j3d.loaders.vrml97 loader. Some
sample apps I have require it but I can't seem to find it?
Thanks,

Just a short answer: I think it was available from sun and was "outsourced".
You can find the latest sources at:

The real solution for visualization in browsers will occur
when Java-enabled browsers run JDK 1.2 (or higher) and Java3D.
Note that Netscape 6.0 supports JDK 1.3 but requires a plug-in

In order to support visualization in browsers, we have added
the visad.browser package to VisAD for

Hello again,
and thanx for the input so far.
I know that some of you have succeeded in getting hardware acceleration on
your laptops. Could you please just write down
1)which machine you have,
2)which graphics card it has
3)the operative system it runs on.
4)OGL or directX?

Hello Fred,
I am running NS 4.72 and when I turn off my spam filter (see long-previous
message) I see your rotating crank and other J3D applets just fine. You
must have some other problem. Maybe you need to re-install the Plugin into
the new NS version?
Hope this helps,

Problem #1 is fixed in the soon to be released Java3d 1.2.1 Beta. Do you
have a test case for the other 2 bugs? You also mention that you filed a
bug - do you have the bug id?
Thanks

Hi Thomas,
My machine is a Dell Inspiron 6000 (600Mhz PIII, 128Mb RAM and 8Mb ATI Rage
Mobility) running Win 98SE. As I said before, J3D in OGL gets no
acceleration at all but J3D in DirectX does. My guess is the Thinkpad will
behave roughly the same with hardware acceleration, although if it's t

You need to re-install plug-in into Netscape 4.7, and then run the
plug-in control panel and point it to whichever JVM you want to use
(the one with Java 3D). Or, you can re-install the entire Java SDK,
and then re-install Java 3D. But as it is now, since you just
installed Netscape 4.7, it does
Hello Al,
please be sure that you are not compiling you code using Microsoft classes.
Using their compiler is not too bad but if you use their
packages, I am sure you will have difficulty. I have attached the

The Inspiron is a great machine until you try and use OGL. Then it sucks.
J3D runs well under DirectX 7 on my Inspiron, but it sometimes starts
displaying hidden textures (eg. something which is just around the corner
pops into view through a wall). This could just be on my machine though as

Hi,
I have a Laptop with Win2K and ATI Rage Pro LT chip and there is no hardware
acc to speak of, not in Java3D (DirectX and OpenGL) or any other app. The
reason is the poor driver policy of ATI which announced just this week that
Win2K drivers for the Rage Family are further delayed. Therefore,
