Heard the discussion on Chrome OS and Java in last news cast, here is
what I know on this.
I was lucky to attend one of the google events last week, where they
gave away CR-48 to all attendees and answered questions on Chrome OS.

In nutshell, chrome os doesn't support java due to performance and
security issues (this was the official answer given by chrome os
project/product manager) and they are working with partners to make it
available (if the community wants it they will do it...)
Same is the case with flash - as of now it doesn't support flash due
to performance, security and probably battery draining issues.

Overall i felt, chrome os is also moving in the same direction as
future mac, whereby eliminating flash and java, the os vendor can
control the apps market place. This certainly looks bad for java.

Anyone else attending same event or otherwise can add more details.
