[I]s not Mexican Independence Day. It celebrates the Mexican victory over France in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. It isn't even celebrated throughout the entire country of Mexico.
Mexican Independence Day is September 16. May 5th is only a cultural celebration.
