my next suggestion is to see if you can obtain some usb headphones
and plug them in and see if sound will come through them after you
plug them in. I have such a set for emergencies because they become
the default sound output device and i am able to run jaws or the
narrator if the sound device
I would close it and start over so you are at the place to tab 5
times to land at correct checkbox.

I don't know if you have normal keyboard or multimedia keyboar.
the multimedia keyboard is a keyboard which is desigened with some small
upper keys to control media without interfering with the control panner, so
if your keyboard is so try the upper keys it may work...
