I don't think device manager does any physical diagnostics on your
hardware. I could be wrong about this, however. If it was checking your CD
Rom drive, you would definitely hear it powering up and run at max speed for

This was broken in 1703 I think. It was my understanding that it has
something to do with a change in windows itself. I know that vfo is aware
of it and it is my understanding that they were working on a fix. In the
mean time, you will want to contact them and add your voice to the many

VFO announced a while ago that changes to Windows 10 introduced by Microsoft
had prevented this feature from operating. I don't know whether the problem
has since been fixed or worked around.
