I am running IE 11 and win 7. For a few weeks this message pops up when I
try to read the local paper as well as a few other random sites. I did a
repair on IE 11 with no help. I also ran combofix again with no help.
Any suggestions?
thanks

The text and background is intentionally done as Dave said. It is meant to
make it impossible to be recognized by OCR. I have heard a few audio CAPTCHs
that, without distortion, would say something like "Jim had two cows and a
horse. He sold a cow. How many horses were left? "This example is overly
Nope. Captchas are written in very hard-to-read text, on a very hard-to-read
foreground/background color combination.

First of all, try unchecking the Generalized Dialect checkbox in the Text

Hans, yes, that is what I do. The funny thing is that if I try these things
at work, mostly they work, and that version of jaws is even older, jaws 12.

Hi
I have found that creating a shortcut key to start a particular version of
JAWS is not as useful as it was in days of yore. But there is an easy way
to start any version of JAWS which does not need any changes to make it
work.
With a shortcut key, you have to make sure that all shortcut keys

I use WLM version 16.4. On a few of my incoming messages, there have been some
wingdings in the body of the text. Can anyone tell me why this is, and how to
correct it? I am using JAWS 2018 and Windows 10 on a Dell laptop. Thanks in
advance.

If the computer is set up to go into sleep mode, when shutting down, Jaws
suddently will be tired, and dos'nt read anything.
Restart the computer, it should solve the problem for now.

Hi.
Do you activate the compobox e.g. with spacebar, open the listbox with

If the webpage is written in html5, your version of Jaws probably is to old.

I have Jaws 9 and 17.

I have found similar issues with some but not all combo boxes. One solution I
found is to use JawsKey+F5 to locate the combo box and hit ok. This seems to
allow you to activate the box. I am not sure why this works, some suggest that
it brings the underlying list into focus.

JAWS refers to elements with ARIA landmark roles as "regions". I haven't tested
this, but I strongly suspect that some HTML5 elements are treated as regions
also, for example, the element, and the element.

The information I gave was through very limited HTML knowledge. I
think I may have said something wrong. Ignore the bit from my email
about JAWS not using standard names for ARIA markup as I think this is
wrong with reference to the Word document.

There is no reason they couldn't put a short cut in there automatically
pre-configured. Let the user change it if they want but it would make
easier for those that are used to it or that prefer it.
