Victor. This is a road I have been up and down many times. There was a
time when that worked. But microsoft updated my version of office 2003 and
it stopped working. I haven't been able to make it work since. No way to
go back.

Yes. I did a little more googling and found it also comes with iTunes. I
have both on my computer so I guess I got it from one or the other or maybe
both. According to Wikipedia it's not a security threat so I have decided
to leave it alone.

Last week I received an email from AVG tech support notifying me that the
update for the paid version of 8 was available for download. I downloaded
it and realized it was a new installation file not just a patch for the
original. It was in fact a little smaller. It took two tries to get it

It has been a month since I first contacted AVG tech support about the
problem I was having. On the exact 1 month anniversary I sent them a
message asking about the status of the situation. Here is part of the email

I started out using Windows live one care when it first came out. It wasn't
very accessible but it was so automatic I didn't have to interact with it
very much. Then one day, six months into my year subscription, it crashed
and a message said I had to go to the Microsoft web site to reinstall
The install screens were navigable with the JAWS cursor. I can't speak to
the actual program because I haven't got it to work yet. That's why I
contacted tech support.

Beware of the paid version of AVG. I have used the free version for many
years but today I decided to try the paid version. After installing it I
tried to run the control center. I got one of those errors that says
something like. the instruction at 0 has performed an illegal operation.

Both the d w w i n dot e x e and the repeated installation of an update went
away when I turned off automatic update. I'm going to wait a couple of days
and turn it back on to see if the problem returns. Some of what I have read
indicates that turning auto update off and back on will fix the p
lp you through, if on the list does not come

That did get rid of messenger which I have wanted to do ever since I got
this computer. The reason why is probably too long and too far off topic
for this list.Now all I have to do is find that procedure again and see
