Why not just use the Alt+D to go to the address bar. I am able to click
on links inside messages and Jaws goes to the website without any problem
about 95% of the time. If on the odd chance it doesn't go to the open page,
I just alt tab to the propper site.

Still not sure why the Firefox scripts do not load. FS support says JAWS won't
officially support Firefox 3 until version 10. I did find a work around to
force the Firefox 2.0 scripts to be loaded at:
