Yesterday, I had a complete jaws nightmare. I thought to myself I'm running
out of disk space, I know what I'll do, I'll uninstall jaws 8 since I don't
need it anymore. I told the uninstall process not to remove shared

I think you got a faulty JAWS9 CD. (yes, there were faulty CD's sent out,
though this was supposed to have been corrected with replacements.) My own
one was fine.
