Have you set up a separate hot key for each of the versions of JAWS?
If you haven't, then I would do that. Once done, then I would reboot
the computer. Then unload JAWS 6 if that is the one that is running
after the reboot. Once 6 is unloaded, then use the hot key combination
to start JAWS 8.
I shut .0 by hitting insert F4
Is that the same as unloading JAWS?

If I understand your typing correctly the answer is yes. So far as the
merge
feature is concerned folks have had differing degrees of success with it
over the years. It's worked well for me in the past I must point out.

Would it be O.K. to re install the C D again?
When I went to the help window of 8.0, I was told to click on the start
wizard, but there was no such beast.

Hi,
Are you sure it's not in the help menu
I hope my subject line is O.K. since I posted a question a couple of days
ago and got no response, I am altering the subject line a bit.
I have XP and 6.0.
I am trying to upgrade to 8.0.
I put the new disc and followed the directions.
I also loaded the real speak disc that came with it.
