I think you can simply undo your last system restore point and it should
restore it back to the previous setting.

Did you try to remove IE 8 using the Add or Remove Programs option on the
Control Panel? If not, and you simply performed a System Restore, this may
explain the problems you are experiencing with IE. Check Add/Remo
