I'm using a Windows XP home machine, running the standard on-board sound card
and Jaws 10 latest build.
I also have a V-Tech Skype cordless phone.
I find that when I leave the phone plugged in, and restart my computer, Jaws
does not come back speaking.

Well, your problem is a simple one. jaws sees your phone as a second
sound card device. Sense it is plugged into the USB port. the reason
you can hear jaws except when on a call is, because the phone is only
