I've been running into this for years on various computers. Usually all you need to do is move the mouse a little. You probably don't need to click the mouse just move it. The problem is that this doesn't happen very often so you don't think to move the mouse before you go yelling for help. grin.

I can see a little and do occasionally use the mouse especially when all else fails. Sometimes jaws gets into a condition where pressing the arrow keys produces the error gong. No amount of tabbing, control tabbing, or alt tabbing will get out of this condition. The only means of escape
