Hi List, I have successfully invoked this version of Narrator. My experience with it so far seems to indicate some program instability, but this might be due to my own set of circumstances. I am running XP Pro and the latest version of JAWS. The good voices do work with this version of Narrator (Realspeak etc.). Hi Mike, Narrator does not take an install. To use it, do the following: (This is the version of narrator that ships with Win2k pro. You can get it to work in Windows XP by simply placing these 2 files in any directory except system32, as long as they stay together. It is more functional than the version that ships with XP. narrator5.0.2195.6619.zip Download Link) 1. extract the files from the zip archive. 2. copy the files to the clipboard 3. paste the files in the following folder: c:\Windows\system 4. Create a shortcut on the desktop for the, Narrator.exe file. You may assign a hotkey for the shortcut if you want. That's it, you are done. Simply activating the shortcut, will load Narrator If you have other sappi voices on your system, the ones that will work with this version of Narrator will show up in the Narrator main window under the voices dialogue.
