i tried adjusting a cell column to the width of the widest cell by
hitting auto fit, after selecting the cells i have used, but i've been
told that this doesn't adjust the column width. can anyone help me
out? i use an older version of jaws, 12, but have office 2010 on my pc

You need to select the column that you want to auto adjust the width of.
