Evening everyone.
Can anyone point me in the direction for a tutorial on how to use
Windows defender? I have some notices on some trojan spyware, and I need
to find out how to deal with it. I am using JAWS 2018 and Windows 10 on
a Dell laptop. Thanks much.

You can't, to the best of my knowledge, force a scan with defender, but
you could with Microsoft Security Essentials.
At some point, there was a registry tweak that could trick things into
providing this ability from the context menu in windows explorer, but I
never got it to work
using windows 10 with jaws 16.4350 and the builtin defender
how do you execute a manual virus scan using jaws?
