Hi Marilyn

I use left windows logo key, the key to the right of the left ctrl key. +the letter M for minimize.

this is a standard windows key, not jaws specific.

it minimizes all apps and puts focus on the desktop.

I use that when jaws appears to read strange things.

might also be an idea to see what other windows you have open at the same time. too many windows open and jaws can't decide where it should have focus.

so again, bear in mind what you have open when going to internet explorer.

mind you, if you only have outlook express, possibly an email open, then you go to internet explorer, then it's not a focus issue.

any way, next time it happens, just make a note of what is open. we might get a better idea of what is causing this.

do you maximize outlook express?

some people maximize all applications, I don't. I only maximize windows if they appear to not be read correctly or if a sighted person needs to see the screen.

hope to sort this out for you. *smiles*

Elaine

EElaine, I think you're right about focus. What's the key stroke to
minimize? marilyn

: hi Marilyn
:
: when you open Internet Explorer, is your outlook Express page maxed? I'm
: thinking this is a focus issue.
:
: before you go to IE, minimize all apps to the desktop, then open up
internet
: explorer.
:
: just wondering if that might help jaws to see the correct window.
:
: I've had a look to see if I could find any menu items which might be
: enabled, but I can't see anything that would indicate your problem.
:
: I'll keep pondering this one.
