I might have solved my problem by taking sent mail out of my favorites. When
jaws told me I was in the Messages list, I thought I was in my inbox, because
at some point I was. But it’s entirely possible that this messages list with
some sort of combined deal where sent mail was showing

2018. On my old Windows xp machine with its equally old email client, this
account was set to pop3. That’s all the old email program supported.

setting in that email client that allowed me to delete messages
