Mladen Turk commented on JBWEB-9:
---------------------------------

Targeting Native connector labs:

I have prepared the CD with free Microsoft build tools
for users not having the MSDeveloper or MSVStudio.
The CD contains:
- Platform SDK
- VCToolkit 2003
- Apache HTTP server 2.0.52 binaries with openssl
- Apache HTTP server 1.3.33 binaries with modssl
- mod_jk sources 1.2.8
- modified build files
- essential tools zip, gzip and tar.
- batch files for building

Created both CD and .iso image

The CD is cca. 500MB in size.
IMO it should not be uploaded in CVS, but rather
kept on some private web location.

> Plan for content development of mod_jk/mod_proxy/native connectors training
> modules (working towards "JBoss Clustering" training).
> The plan includes identifying the content and number of modules, content and
> number of lab exercises, syllabus description and estimates for delivery
> dates for the planned module development (at 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% complete
> stages), and identifying any development dependencies.
> The plan should take into account the cross-training opportunity during March
> 1-2 JBossWorld event, and target the relevant content delivery by that date.
> A) Items to cover in the Apache/Tomcat clustering modules
> =========================================================
> 1) Domain Model Clustering
> - included in mod_jk 1.2.8
> - grouping nodes in the cluster into domains
> - content based on the article to be published by Mladen
> 2) Shared memory implementation in mod_jk
> - Similar to what was included in JK2 implemented in mod_jk to be used
> with Apache2
> - Allows for the modification (add/remove) of nodes from the native Apache
> side
> - Similar functionality available to some extent on the Tomcat side with
> native connector (but lacks communication back to Apache httpd)
> - Will be included in mod_jk in Q1/2005
> 3) Mod_proxy
> - introduction, usage and current features
> - in the long run will replace mod_jk with equivalent features
> 4) Mod_jk with IIS 6
> - any relevant configuration or connector information required when used
> with Microsoft's IIS 6 server
>
> 5) Labs delivery for smooth training experience
> - work out any issues with lab delivery when using non-java software
> (mod_jk, Apache httpd, compilers)
> 6) Any already developed Tomcat native connector modules adjusted for "JBoss
> Clustering" training where reuse makes sense.
