I have a third party jar file and I was wondering where I should put it inside
the JBoss hierarchy of directories. It mayb be one someone has already used in
here (i.e. JFreeChart) so I was hoping for a response. Right now I have a few
example apps but can't get them working from JBoss. I'm real
Peter, I said I was a programmer (not sure how good though). Microsoft Vista
full of bugs was almost a given to me. Just XP alone when first switching was a
pain. I used to have a laptop running it and the laptop died. No one knows why
but my guess is because of "brain" damage from running XP. B
Sorry I thought you worked for JBoss (thought I saw it under your name that you
did or something). What kind of development do you mainly do then? I dib and
dab in a little of everything (until about 2 years ago it was mainly desktop
apps). I've been trying to learn more and more about the diffe
Thanks Peter again. Really appreciate it. Two things, I wouldn't be asking so
many questions but I'm trying to get this set up ASAP and try seeing how it
compares to JRun. I work for a small company and we were hoping to start
utilizing JBoss instead of JRun so, hence, a little rush. Second thin
In one of my jsp's I make reference to a third party .jar file (i.e. import
some classes from it mainly used for database connection and manipulation).
Where can I find where the class path for .jar files is located in JBoss and
are there other steps I need to take other than dropping the .jar f
Thanks for all the helpful (and accurate) advice/information Peter. I was
hoping you wouldn't say that about having 2 separate JBoss directories in order
to have 2 separate services but you gotta do what you gotta do. Thanks again
for all the help.

If I run run.bat for default with it's port set to ports-default it works. If I
run my second server and it's port set to ports-01 it seems to work. When I try
setting up JBoss as a service it doesn't work for either one of these servers.
I've read a few docs and some knowledgable people mention
Where in the heck does one find the sample-bindings.xml file? I've been trying
to set up multiple servers each on the same machine but using different ports

Hi Peter/All,
I had seen that page earlier but was hoping there was an easier way. Is
there a way to specify the same computer but with a different port. I saw on
the page it said to supply a different IP or DNS alias, is there a way to set
up the same way but with a different port only (run
This extra information might help out a bit more to what I've trying to
accomplish.
I've been looking at the way JRun has multiple servers set up. One group or
JSPs and everything related can be accessed as localhost:8080 whereby you can
set up another server for another group of applica

Peter,
Couple of hopefully quick questions. Where can I change the port number
from 8080 to something else? How can I go about accessing (for example) the
jmx-console directory without having to type in the computer name, colon, and
the port number? Instead of mycomputer:8080/ being able to
Hi All,
I was wondering how I could set up a nicer URL on my machine to access JSPs
instead of localhost:8080/.? I've tried createing a virtual directory to
the default/deploy directory but this doesn't work. Instead of
http://localhost:8080/jmx-console/... I put in

Hi Peter,
I figured I would give this a try. I copied a simple JSP I had into another
directory at the same level as the jmx-console.war one. I tried running the app
(i.e. localhost:8080/TmpDir/testjsp.jsp) and the app ran fine. What are the
benefits/ requirements of having the other directo
Never mind Peter. I had been trying to put in jmx-console.war, didn't realize
it but tried taking off the .war and it worked.

Thanks again Peter. I guess the layout is similar to JRun with the war and
WEB-INFO directories. Couple of really stupid questions now:
when entering localhost:8080/ what path does that go to? The reason why I'm
asking this is because the directory(ies) I thought i would lead to doesn't

Really? lol. I thought there was client, server, and a hotspot for each. Nice
to know this. Thanks again.

I've been using JRun up to this point and the development environment was
already set up. I want to start using JBoss to run my JSPs but wasn't sure
where I should put them. Is there a specific directory I should put them? Is
there a way to point to another directory to access them? Which approa
Peter,
Thanks so much for the info, appreciate it. Everything worked fine. One
question though: in the syntax statements for JavaService it gives

Hi Peter,
If I double click or run the run.bat file the Started in
line comes up and stays there. Last time I tried it (15-20 minutes ago) run.bat
hasn't put anything out to the terminal since or finished. I expected to run
the run.bat, the bunch of messages to appear, and then finally say s
Peter,
One quick thing: after it says Started in... it just stalls there. Should
this happen like this? I tried the localhost and the page does come up but what

Could someone please outline the initial steps needed to install JBoss? I've
been fooling around with it and I'm really not sure if anything I've done thus
far is right. Any help would be appreciated. I need to know how/where/etc.., is
needed for the server VM to get installed (where to put it,
