In looking through the distribution, the User's Guide, the FAQ and various
other locations, I'm unable to find explicit instructions on how to install
this build. I'd like to install to a 4.0.5 AS instance but there is no mention
of how best to do this. For example:

Cool, thanks for the quick response. Would the patch then be attached to the
Jira entry? Or, is there a better way for me to keep an eye out for the patch?

I'm putting together a sample, stripped-down 4.0.5.GA configuration where I'd
like to remove the JRMPInvoker. Deployment of my data source is giving a
