yes, i'm using the same seam version as i used to (2.1.1GA), the only thing
that changed is the version of the JBoss Tools.
the security.drl wasn't in the root of the ear but in the META-INF directory
(if i remember correctly).
if it's not a requirement and the wizard does not generate it, at
oh, ok, now i can add the ds file and deploy it.
why is there a difference between the two servers?
thanks!

yes, i created the project using the wizard.. i even did that 3 times just to
make sure i'm not missing something..
i will try the Make deployable option when i get home, though it's not
something i needed to do in the past, and as for the rules files, it won't even
create it so it's a bigger
i reported a bug to jira: https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBIDE-4371

hi,
i had to reinstall all of my development environment, including the JBoss Tools
and it behaves a little bit different.
I mostly use the tools for seam development, and with the current version of
the tools i noticed that two things act different with the seam web project:

peter,
i never thought of using the apache for port 80, that can do the trick... right
now i have iis working on port 80 but i dont need/use it so that's not a
problem...
i would rather use the same ports though.
will the use of the mod_jk harm me in anyway? is this something i should
avoid?

i will check out this mod_jk connector but i want to know what are consequences
of using this...
the jboss as must have some kind of http server that it uses, will i be chaging
that? will something work in a different way? will the roll of the jboss AS
change
great news!
happy to hear that you located the problem and that you solved it as well..
any chance that you can some how place the new php5servlet.dll somewhere on the
web so i'll be able to download it? i would prefer not to start to compile c++
code since (in experience) it's always
well, i'm glad that it's not something wrong @ my end..
thanks for the help, i searched the forums a lot and did not find something
that will help... maybe you can do a better job (maybe you know better what it
is we're looking for).
i'm not using the php-examples.war so i'll place the

peter, thanks a lot for all your help, i really appreciate it!
here's the info of the server:
jdk: there are two jdks on the computer: jdk1.5.0_14 and jdk1.6.0_03
the JAVA_HOME is set to: jdk1.5.0_14 (C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_14)
jboss: i'm using jboss-4.2.2.GA and the JBOSS_HOME is set
hey again peter, and thanks!
we decided to go with the 4.2.2 for now and migrate when the 5 is more stable
and documented, thanks for reassuring us.
we still dont know which version of EJB we want to use, but we'll probably go
with the EJB3.
the we that i use every once and a while refers to
ok, that did the trick.. now the server runs outside localhost as well..

hi,
this is a very general question, regarding a lot of JBoss products.
we want to set up a server for development purposes, we are very new to this
whole server business.
this so called server is a regular pc running a windows xp os, connected to a
5MB adsl connection with a fixed ip address.
thanks for your reply max,
it took me a while to understand what is that jira you wrote about, but i
figured it out and added a new issue.
i guess that in the mean while i'll have to use two server instances? one that
will run as a windows service and one for development?
thanks, nitzan.
yeah, that's what i thought..
thanks

i want to use hibernate with the jboss AS while using mysql.
i'm using:
- jboss AS 4.2.2
- hibernate 3.2
- mysql server 5.0
i first want to check that the jboss AS can work with mysql in a proper way so

i went through this article a step
forgot to add that when i change the datasource to java:/MySql instead of
java:/DefaultDS it works great...
thanks, nitzan

peter,
i checked the JAVA_OPTS and the following directories:
- bin/native
- php/bin
- php/bin/ext
are included there
as for the depends utility, i couldnt find a windows version of this so i
downloaded Dependency Walker which does the same..
it says that my dwmapi.dll is missing as well but
oh, another question:
i used the service.bat that comes with the jboss-native to run the jboss AS as
windows service.
this works great but only for local host.
i know that i should use the -b option when using run.bat (run -b 0.0.0.0) but
i do i make it run as windows service like this?
thanks.
hi,
i installed the Jboss Tools (not sure which version it is but the eclipse cant

i also have a JBoss AS 4.2.2 running as a windows service on port 8080.
i want to use this instance of the server when i use the eclipse but when i
thanks a lot for your help peter.
i tried what you wrote but it doesnt help.
i still get the same error message even when php5servlet.dll is in bin\native.
any other ideas of what might the problem be?
thanks a lot!

thanks for your reply.
i read the thread you pointed at, but i'm afraid that it's not what i'm looking

the main thing that i'm looking for is the JBoss Application Server and not the

i only want the JBoss Web in order to use php (and url rewriting might be nice
as well).
