That was the problem. The description EL was returning null.

I have a POJO with a method annotated with @Begin.
The conversation gets started but switcher.seletectItems is empty. Nothing gets
displayed.
The example application(issues) in seam 1.2.1 uses ejb.
But I am using managed bean, a seam component with annotations
@Name(sampleBean)
