This is a performance issue with JBP. This particular method gets called when
dashboard gets created first time for user.
If we have 20K users for JBP, 20k select queries gets fired every time a new
dashboard gets created. So it appears complete show stopper. Even second level
caching does not

I'll base my answers on a MySQL database. I give all privileges (there are
quire a number of them) to the user on the created database. The user also has
GRANT privileges, which enables that user to also grant the same privileges to
others. I haven't tried creating a user without GRANT privilege

case, we dont give DBA access to the user. Rather we give only (
select,insert,update,delete, references, alter, index) privileges on tables.

What database? I use both MySQL and PostgreSQL and I create a user specifically
for the Portal database and grant that user full access to that database. But
that user does not have access to anything else.

Instead of 'sequence' I've used 'all' which doesn't mind the order.
The descriptor shipped with JBoss Portal wouldn't have parsed otherwise. It's
better for backward compatibility.

I am getting the same error with verson 2.7.2. It works fine in IE 7, but not
with IE 6. Is there a .css change needed that can be applied? Or should I try
to backtrack to 2.71 or even a beta version of 2.7.0?

It's not the portlet packaging which dazed me, but more the portal packaging. A
bundle with portlets, themes, layout, sso, etc.

I could not deploy an ear but I can rename my ear as a .SAR under the following
conditions
The packages are in a jar file and located in the [SAR]/lib directory
The jboss-service.xml will not get picked up by the class loader unless it is

This does not appear to be a Portal problem - this same error would probably
happen with JBoss AS.
The first think to check is that the account used to run JBoss AS has full
permissions on jboss_home and its sub directories.

That data is only inserted when there is no jbp_user table found. Remove the
table as well as jbp_role to get the defaults back in.

We needed the tables created in a right Tablespace etc.., and the most data of
these tables are filled after the restart of the server but i donot see the
admin/user created in the JBP_USER tables any idea why?

I suppose there are some questions to ask to help you out...
1. Have you restarted your application server or redeployed portal server? You
need to have the deployment process to take place for the tables to be filled.

To use JBoss Portal with MySQL, you will need to setup you database connections
