There are definite bugs in the fileupload control in Seam 1.2.1. Is it
possible for you to upgrade to Seam 2.0.0.GA?

Yes this is a path from the local drive (/files in UNIX like system or C:\files
for windows).
Now I never looked into having that path relative to any server context.
I suggest you look into the source to see if that's even possible.

I figured out that the folder had to be from the local drive (e.g C:\files).
But i would like to know if its possible to configure jboss such that files are
uploaded relative to the context.

It is not your war that should contain a "/files" directory.
The server running your application should have access to a /files path that
already exists.
This is the path where all the files will be uploaded and stored by the serveur.
