The pattern works great and with a little modification you can get it to handle
your page display as well.
I started out using stateful session beans as well, but, found that they were
creating some Connection errors. I couldn't figure it out so I ended up
changing it back to HttpS
If you are already experienced at apache administration and have a solution
that works with Apache have you considered fronting your application with
Apache and using MOD_JK to pass the requests through for the JBoss application
and your existing configuration for this last minute requirement?

This is actually sort of a common problem... But: Do you really need 50
different web.xml's - and if so - why? Usually the solution to this problem,
in my experience, is that just because something can be set up with web.xml

Try the Admin Console for JBoss provided by Unisys. It has a page that lists
all of the ports used by a particular instance of JBoss. It has been tested
with 3.2.6, 3.2.7 and 4.0.2, on Windows and Linux.

I deploy a Stateless Session Bean with JUnit tests in it. (TestRunnerSession

I start JBoss and run the JUnit test and it works. I change (or don't change

I'm experiencing the same problem. I'm running JBoss 3.2.7 on a Fedora Core 3
Linux box. I also have JBoss started up as a service. I send both kill -3 or
kill -QUIT to the JBoss process id and nothing happens.

My goal is :
Separate instances of the same MDB are deployed in separate ejb-jars. Each one
is configured to pick message from it's own queue.
What I've done (looks wrong) :
They are distinct named jar, different JNDI name, different queue names in DDs
and so on.

Also how have you made this change? What files have you changed?
Are you using the binding service? The JNP port is only one of the ports you
are going to have a conflict with.
I have just changed the port for a 4.0.2 installation and it starts without any

Are there any third party user interfaces for JBoss that provide a unified
interface to the collection of configuration files?

You can still use the binding service on the second installation, it is not
restricted to being used on a single instalation.
All the binding service does is it changes the ports of the services it doesn't
know anything about the other instances or installations.

No it is probably because the contents in '/etc/profile' are not processed
until you start a new session - you probably had a combination of new and old
sessions running which was why you were getting wierd results.

- Session2Bean in Ejb2.jar in App2.ear
Each EAR has its own class loader because there is
App1Loader:loader=unique-archive-name
App1.ear\META-INF\jboss-app.xml and
App2Loader:loader=unique-archive-name
App2.ear\META-
