how are you creating your archive. Are you wrapping the EJBs into an
ejb jar, your servlets etc into a WAR and then wrapping the two up into an EAR?

You need to change your connection in your datasource. You need to add the attribute
autoReconnect=true to your connection, e.g.
connection-urljdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/multimedia?autoReconnect=true/connection-url
