I don't suppose either the author or anyone has had any luck solving this problem? I am running into the exact same problem and would love some direction.
It appears that org.jboss.util.propertyeditor.DateEditor is getting to the Date before the FormatDateTag has a chance. Any idea how resolve this kind of namespace issue? (I'm not exactly sure that is the problem, but I am willing to try it).
