I'm not sure that I understand what you mean when you say "start java". Do you
mean when starting the JBoss server? I use the default "run.bat" file found in
[jboss]/bin to do that, and edited it to uncomment this line:
set JAVA_OPTS=%JAVA_OPTS% -Xms128m -Xmx512m

Have you increased the max memory heap size?
If not try -Xmx512m when start java.
