expanding variable during JDEBug

I am new to JDEBug. When I step through my code I notice local variables appearing in the local variable buffer as follows: [+]-- java.lang.String args[] When I click on [+] shouldn't I see an expansion of args[]? Currently nothing happens. How do I browse stack varables? -
