Hello,
just uploaded 1.4.2 Jabber Server Package to Debian non-us unstable.
Those packages are compiled with SSL support, otherwise do not have changes
compared to the 1.4.1-2. This especially means no -dev, no -doc and no
JUD/Transport packages yet.
I will set up a CVS for the Debian part on j
Hi All, I have been running a jabber server in our company since last one
year or so. In the beginning we thought we would run it internally and named
our jabber server as "phoenix". Now we would like to connect our server to
the rest of the jabber network and therefore obviously rename the jab

Hello everybody, I want to make my own JUD service, I would like to make searches in an LDAP directory and put some restrictions, like some users can't see other domains. etc.
What would be the best approach to achieve this? I want to make it modular so in next versions of the main jabber se
Did you make a 'computer.domain.com' directory under jabber './spool'???
i.e. if your jabber computer is 'jabber.company.com' then you must have a directory
jabber/spool/jabber.company.com created with access rights compatible with the user
running jabberd. That direcotry is where the users are
Nickname is actually something that I set when I add you to my roster. You
can set any nickname you want but I can override it when I add you to my
roster (and actually I don't think I ever even see it).

This was discussed a month or two ago on this list. The old IRC-t was
never properly updated to work with the 1.4 API (changed from 1.2). A few
folks on this list have worked on it somewhat but they don't have anything
ready for release yet AFAIK.

Hi,
I have just installed Jabber Server (last version) on RH Linux 7.2.
The server is behind a firewall and does not have internet access : it will
be a stand-alone internal Jabber Server.
I can't figure out how to configure my server to accept connection and
registration from my WinJab client :
I have followed the standard directions of "./configure --enable-ssl". SSL is
detected. I compile without errors. I set up the key file. I made the necessary
changes in jabber.xml (fixing the XML syntax too).
But Jabber NEVER listens on the SSL port. I have even tried the jabber2 CVS and it

Yes. So Riyaad would need to hook a script into one of the admin addresses
and send out news flashes that way. But his popup idea would need to be
implemented client-side. If more Jabber clients supported message
type='headline' the message delivery might be more to his liking. :)

Hi there,
There is already a mechanism in place for the server admin to
broadcast a message to all connected users. If this is the kind of
thing you are interested in, the details are in the jabber.xml
configuration file. Included is an extract:
Note that they can also send announcem
Hi ALL
I'm looking for some kind of solution to my problem here.
Here's a scenario, assuming you have approximately 5000 users online at this very
moment, all of which are merrily chatting away. Assume there's some kinda major event
happening in the world (eg. Volcano errupting in Hawai or some
