I was able to do this with the Environment Inject plugin
(https://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/EnvInject+Plugin)

You could for example set The BUILD_OUTPUT variable that way and then
reference in the template as $BUILD_OUTPUT

Endlines are a bit tricky: To get an endline you should do it like this:

BUILDOUTPUT = foo/
/
bar

Notice the double endline: in jenkins this will appear as a single endline
