Jenkins que and node labels
Hello, We have a tricky structure of parallel flows inside flows and we need to lock some of the flows after they finish. The solution currently is to change node label of the flow to non existent one via API, and change it back when all the flows finish. Somehow while builds are in que they can still get the changes in Restrict where this project can be run field The question is: Is anyone familiar with this feature (qued jobs updating parameter of node label) and if anyone knows is it a bug or a feature, is it safe to base our logic on this feature and not fear that it will be fixed somewhere down the line -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Jenkins Users group. Automating Jenkins Deployments with Chef
I am working on creating a chef cookbook to automate our Jenkins infrastructure. I am using the opscode Jenkins cookbook as my starting point but it only has a few basic resources. I can see I am going to need use the cookbook's jenkins_script resource to configure Jenkins via groovy. That would be fine except I am having considerable difficulty figuring out how to configure Jenkins via groovy. There does not seem to be a lot of information out there either in the Jenkins docs nor in blogs, etc. None of the plug-ins document their API, etc. There are API docs for main Jenkins which help but only if you already understand the big picture, which is what I am struggling with right now. I understand how to configure all of our Jenkins boxes via the UI, but how do I learn to translate that into knowledge of writing groovy scripts? Right now the only means I am seeing is to spend a very long time digging my way through the source code itself and learning from trial and error. Is there another way? How do people out there learn and use the Jenkins API? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Jenkins Users group. Re: svn checkout options
[Hmmm, I could have sworn I replied to this over the weekend, but it does not seem to be here] Anyway, there is a problem with setting commit-times to yes in the config file. The problem is that, while this is desirable for checkouts, it is not desirable for updates. Unfortunately, the option applies to both when set in the config file. In our environment for developers, we suggest that they *not* set commit-times to yes in the config file, because updates should always set a newly updated file's timestamp to 'now' rather than the commit time of the file, thus forcing a rebuild. Instead, we use a wrapper script for checkout only, where the commit times are used for timestamps -- necessary for us, because certain packages should not redo any automake step, and when the timestamps are random, this sometimes happens. On Friday, January 9, 2015 at 6:41:41 PM UTC-5, Daniel Beck wrote: Should be possible by uncommenting the use-commit-times option in ~/.subversion/config on all nodes building the job. Using a Group or Role to Variable to customize a build script
I am new to Jenkins, and we are migrating multiple scripts to Jenkins from other environments. We basically have 2 Roles with more to come Developers and Administrators We would like to be able to write a build script once and tailor the input fields based upon the user's defined role. Is there a way to get, in a build script the Role or Group that a user belongs to? For example we allow our developers to build and deploy to a Project environment, but only Admins can deploy to QA and Production. if we can limit the choices (via a script) for developers to only show the Project environment for input, we can now write a script once and use it for many different environments. I have set up Groovy scripts to pull the information from files, and if I can supply the group or role information the script can pull based upon that information. -- This message and any files transmitted with it are the property of Sigma-Aldrich Corporation, are confidential, and are intended solely for the use of the person or entity to whom this e-mail is addressed. Copy artifact plugin with maven multi module project
I have a multi-module maven project that is an upstream job, and the downstream job that it triggers uses the Copy Artifact plugin to copy the artifacts produced by the maven project. These are snapshot artifacts being generated. Jenkins automatically archives the maven artifacts, and when it does, at changes the artifact name to have a version and timestamp on it, so it looks like *myproject-1.2.0-timestamp.war*, or something like that. This happens even though my project outputs a war named *myproject.war**. *I tried just using the Jenkins post build step to archive the artifacts (which does have the correct names) and disabling the automatic archiving of maven artifacts, but when I do this, the Copy Artifact plugin fails because it looks for the artifacts in the maven module subdirectories. Is there a way to have the Copy Artifact plugin only copy the artifacts produced by the Jenkins post build archiving step or is there any way to have the maven archived artifacts not have the timestamp added to them? Getting the jenkin job status without authentications
Hi ALL , I am new to this group and need your help for the below issue : I am trying to automate getting the jenkin's job status by running the below command in post build - Execute shell . JOB_STATUS=`curl -silent -k -u USER_NAME:API_TOKEN https://URL_NAME/jenkins/job/$JOB_NAME/lastBuild/api/json https://fusion.paypal.com/jenkins/job/$JOB_NAME/lastBuild/api/json | grep -iEo 'result:\w*’` My question : How to avoid passing USER_NAME:API_TOKEN explicitly in jenkin’s job ? Is there any way hide my user credential for automating jenkin’s job status ? is there way to get the Job status by just passing predefined environment variable , advice please *NOTE : *Why i am asking this question , after automated plan to share my job with my team and i should not share access_token according to company policy Thanks , Muthu Selvan SR -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Jenkins Users group. You want to mark a build with the flaky test as stable - so this would be almost the same for a normal job with the complication that Gerrit patchsets are not linear... In my case, there is a test case, unrelated to the patchset under test, that has been failing for some time. I'd like the Gerrit trigger to only mark the patchset being tested if introduces a NEW test failure. Is there a way to achieve this? Take a look at https://github.com/samsta/quarantine this may be the only way of ignoring your bad test. Note it forks the junit plugin and is probably missing features fixes in that junit plugin. (Yes I do now that having failing tests that have not been fixed is poor practice, but in a large test suite, that is sometimes the case). In this case I really would just recommend removing the test and raising a defect for the team to fix it and tracking it that way - it will reduce the headache (given you are not currently fixing it) and it gets the team to accept that they can't push changes to the branch when the code is broken. /James -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Jenkins Users group.
