Paul,
I modified my file to reflect your changes and used the original
default.psml file. And NO LUCK. Maybe I have something wrong within my
setup and Jetspeed isn't configured properly?? This is so frustrating!!
Everyone tells me that it is very simple.
I guess I'll have to look into th
mething wrong or there is something that I have left out. Can anyone see
what I am doing wrong or maybe something that I have forgotten to do?? Any
help would greatly be appreciated! Thanks in advance!!

under a user id in Jetspeed. Anyone know which files need to be
edited/created??
Thanks,
Bob Wilson.
On a side note...is there anyone here in the US that knows Jetspeed very
well and would consider being paid to teach a newbie the basics of
portal/portlet development?? No cost to yourself other
Paul,
This may be a stupid question but...I'm not even sure if I'm using a log for
Jetspeed. Should I have defined it in my server.xml file or somewhere
else?? (Sorry...I'm still a newbie learning both this and Java). Also,
would you be able to explain the difference between action and portle
oes not show up. I'm not sure what I am doing

Thus I would assume it would be wise for anyone to move from 1.3a1 to
1.3a2-dev as soon as they can? Or would there be any recommendations to
anyone to stay with 1.3a1?
Bob.

Can anyone tell me what the final production version release of Jetspeed is?
1.3a1 or 1.3a2?? I'm guessing 3a1 is the final prod and 3a2 is a alpha
release??
Can someone explain the diffs?
Thanks,
Bob.
I'm
interested to know since we are looking to make this a reality at my
company.
Thanks in advance!!
Bob Wilson.
Does anyone know if there is documentation on how to implement both Jetspeed
and LDAP together so that only a single sign-in is required by users?? Or
is this something that isn't possible?
Thanks,
Bob Wilson.
know there are
configurations that we 'DO' to make Jetspeed run but is it possible to
include the 'WHY' we do those configs so that newbies starting out will have
a better understanding? (Some of the things I have configured I'm not sure
I totally understand

Ok...I figured out how to get a portlet to show up and select when
customizing. I made an entry in local-portlets.xreg. I guess the first
time I tried this I must not have saved my work. Once I could see my
portlet I then selected my new portlet (FirstPortlet) for viewing however,
when I go to
I have created a file called FirstPortlet.java with the
TOMCAT_HOME/webapps/jetspeed/WEB-INF/classes directory. I then compiled
this file and the FirstPortlet.class was generated. I'm slightly unsure of
where to go from here as I have read that I need to then create a file
called local-portlets.
Once I login to the Jetspeed homepage and browse to Admin -> Jetspeed
Content it throws a Horrible Exception. The error output is...
Horrible Exception: java.lang.NullPointerException

Please IGNORE my last post about where to find the .jar files when
TOMCAT_HOME and CLASSPATH aren't set. I figured out where they were coming
from and removed the jaxp.jar & parser.jar files then replaced them with the
newer xerces_1_3_1.jar.
NO Exceptions now!! Thanks Paul and thanks Graham!!
Upon viewing these directories I do not have any of crimson.jar, jaxp.jar,
or parser.jar within the /webapps/jetspeed/WEB-INF/lib directory nor any
variation thereof. I did notice that the other file (xerces_1_3_1.jar) is
there and is the correct version.
One thing here...I do not have a TOMCAT_
You mean when you upgraded to jetspeed 1.3a2 you had to go back and find the
ecs.jar file from 1.3a1?? Maybe I need to check my ecs.jar?? I am assuming
that your are talking about adding it to the /webapps/jetspeed/lib
directory??
I haven't even attempted to build and deploy the HelloWorldPortl
Hi all,
When I eventually got to the Jetspeed homepage (the monkey jumped off my
back) however I noticed it doesn't quite look like what I have seen from
pther people's experiences. In the middle of the page I have this error
(exception) displaying and I'm not too sure what it means...
org.apac
I can read about this??
Sorry for all the questions...I'm just curious about this cool technology!!
(Remem...I'm a newbie!)
Thanks,
Bob Wilson.
mething I'm doing wrong
as to why I can't get to the Jetspeed login page??

t, I
receive the above error. Am I doing something wrong? Can anyone help? I
downloaded directly from the Apache website.

I would
rather start fresh and do all the compiles and builds myself. My objective
is to build a Corporate portal using Apache, Tomcat, and Jetspeed on a SuSE
Linux system. Anyone have any advice that will help? My ears are open.
Thanks,
Bob Wilson
I appreciate all the help I'm getting thus far. Thanks!
I'm trying a few suggestions that I received earlier and it was suggested
that I download and install jdk 1.3.0 for a possible problem I'm having.
Does anyone know where I can download jdk 1.3.0 for Linux?? The only
versions I seem to be
from my browser. I am currently going back over the
install and config to make sure everything was done correctly. Has anyone
else run into a problem like this??
Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks.
Regards,
Bob Wilson.

need the mod_jk piece to help Apache and Tomcat communicate. Do I require
J2EE, JDK, JRE, others?? I'm looking to figure out all the 'tools' that I
require to make this happen. Can someone help?
Thanks,
Bob Wilson.
