I finally managed to work around with the problem.
I had two apache web servers running on my Linux machine
and two php versions ...
The one with jffnms was using port 8090
I think there was a mixed up problems with phps and apaches
Now everything it's ok

Yes, well, the script http://localhost/jffnms/admin/adm/test.php
shows that I'm editing the right php.ini file, there is actually only one on
the system.
So I still need help with why the setup is showing that as being turned off.
I was able to get the web relative path /jffnms to be working now,

To do that, you should create a new graph based on the
engine/graphs/traffic.inc.php file and then add it to the "Graph Types" screen.
