I just noticed that
`testAlterSinkConnectorOffsetsDifferentKafkaClusterTargeted` is failing in the
CI run. There's also https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-14956 where

I tried really hard to reproduce this via integration tests and I wasn't
able to, so I tried doing a repro manually just as you outlined above. Turns
out that this isn't actually a bug
