Since then, mkgmap does now require 1.6.  This happened not long after 
Snow Leopard came out.

So far there have been no complaints at all.

During a transition period, it is still being compiled with --target=1.5
but there is a check for a 1.6 only method right at the beginning.  So 
it will start up on 1.5 but then give an error about the version 
requirement and then exit.
