I inadvertently replied to Jessica directly instead of to the group. Here was my reply (which, she said, did the trick):

Try giving #mainNav a high z-index and making #wrapper2 position: relative;

If it still doesn't work, give #wrapper2 a lower z-index than #mainNav's (and keep it position: relative).
