If anyone is interested... and I don't think they are, I have worked out a workaround: you simply turn it on and off again. Sort of. At the end of your jQuery custom script, simply show and hide the affected elements and they kind of reset and everything seems to be in the correct place.

http://fox-land.co.uk/clients/test/test.png shows the bug in IE6/7 after the elements have been hidden.
