You don't need to be running on Unix, just to send email. As long as there is a
MTA somewhere on your network that will accept email from you, it will work. Just
set the host field before sending the email.

Look into the JavaMail API. Send the mail to the sendmail agent on your unix
box. Not using unix? nevermind.
