Wow, $800 for a 512M stick of RAM -- looks like Cisco RAM pricing :-)
I was mainly curious if someone has used 3rd party RAM and if there is some
additional license key you need, etc..

I actually find that "show chassis hardware detail" is more easy to read, as
that shows a single line with the CF details, rather than "show system storage"
which has a line for each partition on each volume, so you need to do some
calculations to get from that to the actual CF size.
Hope this
and -SB is $500 or so.

Does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade a SSG-140-SB (256M RAM standard)
to 512M? Apparently you need 512M to do some of the Deep Inspection stuff, but
the price difference between the -SH and -SB is $500 or so.
TIA.

You can use 'show system storage' and look for the /dev/ad0* device.
Juniper indicates that 9.0+ requires a 1GB CF (though I'd be
interested to hear if someone has tried it on a 256MB card just for
kicks).

People,
We need to upgrade the JUNOS version of a M7i router.
How can I check (via junos cli) the total space and the available space
of the compact flash ?
The default space for CF in a M7i router is 256 MB ?
We need to upgrade the router to 9.0R2.1.
Thanks a lot,

Ok, fair enough... Although most of the time I hear it the othe way where
people would rather have PDF copies than printed ones! I just got through
digging through my bookshelves downstairs but apparantly I had given away my
hard copies of those books a while ago otherwise I'd offer to send them
That's fine for you, and other people who've either:
A) Already got the qualification, and hence know the material
B) Have a copy of the book to study from.
There is a genuine problem for people who want a paper reference book, and
aren't willing to pay the $80+ that people are asking for copies
Butting in
A "Big hole" is debatable.
Yes, the books are out of print and yes, the 5/6.x version used in the
books are now quite long in the tooth.
However, the material is still available as free pdf download, and AFAIK
is still largely relevant for their respective examinations. How much

I do know there are plans for a M/T series book, but not sure of the ETA
for those plans. The M/T exams are still valid for the older sybex
stuff, so when that changes..

Do you know (if you can say) whether there are plans for an M/T Series version
of this book?
There is a big hole in the market in terms of training material for the
JNCIA/JNCIS exams since the Sybex books went out of print.
Thanks
