Colleagues,
I am trying to configure an EX4200-24T as a DHCP server, but all I
get is the warning: dhcp-service subsystem not running - not needed
by configuration message.
Could you please give me a hand and look what's wrong with the following
configuration. I expected the DHCP server to run

The error message you're getting indicates you're using show dhcp
server

There are actually two completely different DHCP daemons in Junos now - dhcpd
and jdhcpd.
When you configure statements under system / services / dhcp you are using
dhcpd and will need to use:
show system services dhcp server binding
restart dhcp

The preference value is associated with /1 or /2 what these value denote?
